In October, 2001, The Office of the State Court Administrator moved the Gainesville receiver site systems to Broward County due to disinterest in the program by the judges. Broward indicated that they would use the equipment and technology for juvenile dependency hearings for non-English speakers. These hearings take place in judge's chambers and require that more than one non-English speaking person participate in the hearing. Rauch Companies provided additional cordless telephones permitting up to 3 non-English people to monitor the interpreted proceedings and permitting the interpreter to monitor each non-English speaking participant.
It is expected that the Miami based interpreters will get more opportunity to provide remote simultaneous interpreting sessions in Broward County.
